    Private gun sales in Michigan

    I was told by someone I don't know well that private gun owners(excluding hand guns) can't legally sell/buy long guns from another private person in Michigan without a FFL. If this is true, thousands of us have been openly breaking the law for years by buying/selling our long guns to each other using newspaper classifieds. By the way, this guy has a FFL and is wanting to buy some of my long guns. Personally, I think he is full of it and is trying to manipulate me into selling to him. Does any one know for sure, and if so, will you post a quote of the State Law regarding this? Thanks.

    He is full of crap-ola!! There is absolutely NOTHING in the Michigan laws, or FEDERAL laws for that matter, that states that a private seller must sell to an FFL holder, period. You can go to www.legislature.mi.gov/ and look it up. Just for being a snake, I wouldn't sell that guy a dang thing if I were you.

    Thanks everyone. I figured as much but it's nice to read it here and see the link to the law. I really appreciate the humor and fellowship we get here. I'd already decided not to sell to the guy that told me this. I prefer to do business with honest people.
